An alleged rapist reportedly bound his victim in a Guymon hotel for hours and later escaped from police custody before he was caught on foot and charged with attempted rape, aggravated assault, kidnapping and escape.

The incidents occurred at a local hotel on Tuesday, May 19.

The man was already under the supervision of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for the conviction of a previous assault in which he was given a five year suspended sentence in 2006.

According to the Guymon Police Department, they were called to the Texas County Memorial Hospital at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, and told that a person in the emergency room was reporting they had been assaulted.

GPD and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) spoke with the hospitalized victim and found out that the attack had begun late Monday night at the Executive Inn, a Guymon hotel off US Highway 54.

The victim alleged that they had been bound, beaten and sexually attacked by the suspect. The suspect would not allow them to leave the hotel.

According to police, the victim reported being able to get free and escape after the suspect had later passed out in the hotel room.

The injured victim then received help from another guest who was staying at the hotel, and was taken to the hospital.

After the investigation, officers with the GPD and Texas County Sheriff's Department located and arrested 42 year old Clifford Gene Davis in the same room the attacks had allegedly taken place.

Only a short time after the arrest, Davis was able to free himself from the handcuffs and escape. He was; however, captured after only a brief foot chase with officers.

OSBI Crime Scene Technicians were called out to the hotel to process the crime scene after court authorities issued a search warrant.

Davis is currently being held in the Texas County Detention Center on charges of Attempted Rape, Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault and Escape.

No bond has been set and he awaits his first appearance before a Judge in the Texas County Courthouse.
