What do you do when unwanted guests won't leave your home?

One Guymon man pulled out his shotgun Thursday evening and told them to call the cops or leave.

According to officer's reports, the man lived in the home and wanted to rid the place of those who did not pay rent.

No arrest was made since it was his own home, but a shotgun and pistol were confiscated by law enforcement until the District Attorney can review the incident report and decide how to handle the case.

"It is perfectly legal for someone to have weapons in their homes to protect themselves from intruders," Chief of Police Eddie Adamson said. "When an intruder comes into someone’s home the homeowner can protect themselves and use any reasonable force necessary to stay safe if under attack.

"We as the police wish we could be there immediately when any crime is committed to keep the citizens safe, but that’s not possible, and even if we could be there in less than 30 seconds that is a really long time if you are being attacked."

The Texas County Sheriff's Department and the Guymon Police Department responded to the call.
